Our approach
Anime is made for TV, then consumed on mobile. We do it mobile-first.
At Shortcat Studio, every series is designed from the first panel for vertical screens. Framing, pacing, composition, and emotion are all built around the 9:16 format. The result is a more intimate, immersive experience that feels native on a phone.
We work in short episodes of around 90 seconds: long enough to build emotion, short enough to keep you reaching for the next one.
How we animate
From the first sketch to the final voice line, every Shortcat episode passes through five stages and dozens of hands. Here's how a season comes together.
Our writers and storyboarders map out and sketch every key image in the episode, scene by scene. This is where pacing, framing and story beats get locked before a single frame is drawn.
Our illustrators draw, colorize and render each key image from the storyboard by hand. Every character, background and prop is built from scratch and match the show's art style.
Our animators build the in between frames, either by hand or with our proprietary AI software, Shortcat Frames. The software speeds up a manual process. It does not generate the art, it's only a productivity tool.
Our editors and sound designers cut the episode and complete the sound design. Timing, transitions, music and effects come together here to give each scene its rhythm.
Professional studios experienced in English dubbed animation record the final voice performances. Casting and direction are handled to match tone and character to the original storyboard.
